Marsland  A fantastic four quarter effort today from the Dogs  put us in the winners slot for the first time this year. The lads hunted in packs and saw off the Lions outfit that were buoyant off a round 1 win over premiers Centrals headed into the clash. Our first quarter was exactly what was required and the manner in which we hunted the opposition lead to plenty of turnovers and placed their disposal under constant pressure.Six players hit double figures with the 1%ers led by Whiting 14, Byerlee 12, Casey 11, Hutchison, Tobin and youngster Clarke finding his feet with 10 including 9 tackles. Clearly the defence were outstanding only allowing 5-4 which didn’t surpass our quarter time score.Overall stoppage clearances ended up at 34/20 with centres our way at 13 to 8. Nelson Magor was outstanding in the ruck and his return allowed us to free up Whiting who again showed his undoubted class. Our discipline kept the free kicks in our favour with 21/16 and only one 50 which was pleasing. Terry Hall was a standout all day and Hutchy realised his potential with his best game for the club to date eclipsing an association winger well. Phillips was pure class all day and Burford gave us the target to straighten us up in a simple direct game plan. The Orroroo connection was in full force with Tim backing up from a good game last week and Jimmy Reddaway showing what an asset he will be as a small defender. All in all a great effort but only a step forward for our best four quarter effort in a few years.Jobs on though next week with a resurgent Sollies who love nothing more than beating us dogs.Good effort boys.
