To all Parents
30th June 2008
The Club has had an official complaint from the league regarding abuse of an umpire at a recent junior game. The Board of the Port Football Club takes this matter seriously and repeated offences will be dealt with by the Club and this may include suspension from the Club including the Oval and surrounds for a period.
In response the Club offers the following guidelines for all parents, families and spectators.
Remember that you are there for the participants to enjoy the game.
Encourage participation, but don't force it.
Teach that enjoyment is more important than winning.
Never ridicule mistakes or losses – supporters are there to support not downgrade.
Lead by example and respect all players, coaches, umpires and spectators – physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
Recognise all volunteers who are giving up their valuable time.
Never publicly criticise umpires – raise personal concerns with club officials in private.
Don't use ugly remarks based on race, religion, gender or ability – you'll let down your family and yourself if you do – & many such comments are actually now illegal.
By letting your child play with the Port Football Club you agree to abide by these principles. We ask that you support the Club in its undertakings and encourage the Club to take any necessary disciplinary actions including the suspension and banning where warranted of any players, parents and or spectators for repeated or serious breaches.
Also the Club invites you to visit http://www.ppjfa.com.au/ the website for the Port Pirie Junior Football Association and follow the links to their Code of Conduct. The Port Football & Community Sporting Club endorses this code and the efforts of the Port Pirie Junior Football Association in making junior football in Port Pirie an enjoyable and safe experience for all involved.
