Matt Cox played his 200th SGL League game on Saturday the 25th April 2009 against Solomontown. Matt Cox after a promising junior career at the Port Football Club commenced his senior career for the Port Football Club in 1993. Matt has played 200 league games and 30 seconds games for a total of 230 Club games.
He is a life member of the Port Football Club and has played in eight league premierships, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007 & 2008, the second most premierships for a Port player. Matt is a hard tough backman who has made the most of his football ability. Matt becomes the 12th Port player to reach the 200 league game milestone.
Jamie McNamara played his 300th SGL League game on Saturday the 25th April 2009. Jamie commenced his career at Port in 1993 after two seasons with Central Augusta where he was a member of their 1992 premiership. Jamie was captain of Port from 1996 – 2006 and is a six Premiership Captain. Jamie is a life member of the Port Football Club.
In a much appreciated gesture Bob Boston the Solomontown Coach and Coach of Port from 1996 to 2005 had his players form a guard of honour as Matt Cox and Jamie McNamara were carried form the ground at the completion of the match.
