After a comfortable win against bottom placed Lions.
Good to get back in the winners circle against a finals bound side with only 3 rounds to go. It was a great day for the club with Ben Luteria’s 200th Port game, the 50 year team of the SGL show and the Port Picnic on Sunday. Great weekend.

Stats were very even with us marginally ahead in all the I50’s, I50/Goal ratio, centre clearances, ground clearances and free kicks (for the second time this year 19/17!!!). This was reflected in the result and it was good discipline in comparison to our opposition and a good example of what needs to be done.

We started slowly and gave up the first two goals in the first and second quarter. to team this week given the point that we lost it from. Our third quarter helped by multiple 50’s broke the game open but again we didn’t put a side to the sword when we had a chance. South were without a couple of key players so we need to continue to improve.

Ben led the 1%ers with 15 (including 6 shepherds- why would that be????) with Tobin, Burford (8T)and Vlahov (8T) all in double figures-

Positives that came from the game
• We won on a weekend that meant something to the club!
• Gale 5 goals and Johanson BOG playing the small back role perfectly and with courage, hgood stuff!
• Good conversion rate of goals to Inside 50’s at 30.6%
• 15.6 good conversion rate
• 8.1 third qtr
• 2nd & 3rd efforts were better

Points we need to improve on
• Still had a few too many targets when going forward- need to fill up that space!!!
• 54 was still a little low as a tackle count.
• We need to mix in a bit more on the their defensive side of ball ups.
• Still holes in the middle of the zone!

Looking forward
Centrals – They have mirrored our season almost exactly and whoever seeks ultimate glory this year must beat this side
The inconsistencies of the draw mean that this is the first time we play them in Port Augusta and our last minor round game there. They have a potent forward line & classy onballers.

We look forward to this week and will have a few in, a few out depending upon fitness. I don’t care whoever we put out there, our talent list is good and the expectation on the side is victory. Everyone plays their part, hurry up Saturday
