Round 3

Sollies0.33.64.88.14 (62)
Port4.24.47.58.6 (54)

Best: Sollies – R. Saracino, Z. Siemer, C. Millard, T. Hoare, S. Swayne. Port – A. Casey, G. Phillips, T. Byerlee, H. Whiting, N. Magor. Goals: Sollies – B. Goodridge 3, S. McIntyre 2, L. Bearman 2, S. Swayne. Port – G. Phillips 5, H. Whiting , N. Magor , M. Burford  We kicked with the wind in the first and started well, our four goal lead at the break was a good effort with all the signs looking good. The second started well also but we couldn’t make headway into the breeze and whilst endeavour and tackling was good we did not spread quick enough when we had the ball. The second half in honesty saw Solly brush us aside too easily. Their numbers at the ball, their willingness to get in first and over the ball was superior to ours. We lost the clearances 19 to 9 and the frees 15 to 4 which gives a fair indication which side was first at the ball.Tim & Terry continued their excellent 1%er efforts and Henry and Aaron Casey both also played well. Nelsons efforts in the ruck were good which amplified the clearance deficiencies when we won our share of the rucks. Greg continued his goal form and looks sharp around goal.We still have much to do to be top flight in the league and we continue to work solely at this goal. Our worst effort for the year against a superior and hungrier opposition and the score line probably flattered us.
