Port onballer Tom Clarke is the winner of the 2009 Madigan Medal. Tom has had an outstanding season and with 25 votes was 10 clear of team mate Michael Burford and Joe Quigley of Central Augusta. Tom is a three time Port league premiership player 2003, 2004 & 2008 a thirds premiership player in 2001 and a seconds premiership player in 2002. In 2006 & 2007 Tom played reserves for Central Districts. Tom won the Port Football Club league best & fairest in 2005.
Tom becomes only the fourth Port to win a Madigan Medal the others being 1986 Kym Arbon, 1994 John Simmons & 1999 Duncan Savage. The Madigan Medal is named after Harry Madigan a St. Marks – Port Football Club Hall of Fame member. Harry was the inaugural Spencer Gulf League Chairman.
Prior to the formation of the Spencer Gulf Football League St.Marks provided six medallist. 1921 Tiny Condon, 1927 Joe Lukeman, 1929 Matty Walsh, 1937 & 1939 Jack Brady and 1940 Rex Honniball. Port provided three medalist. 1943 Ginger Williams, 1950 George Jobson and 1951 Pat Roads.
